You are welcome to bring someone with you to your appointment if you prefer, although space can be limited at times if the artist needs to move around you during the tattoo. All we ask is that your visitor respects the artists working environment and we will provide them with as many cups of tea or coffee as they like in return.
Under no circumstances do we allow children in the studio.
Our shop minimum is £50. This is the least a tattoo will cost regardless of how small. This covers time and materials required to cover the tattoo.
UK law states you must be 18 years of age to get a tattoo. Therefore anyone under the age of 18 will not be able to get a tattoo at Heart for Art Tattoo. Please bring a valid form if ID such as driving licence or passport as proof of age.
A LITTLE UNDERSTANDING:
Please be aware we have clients each day so we aren’t always readily available for a chat. When your time comes we are all for YOU.
Our artist work in different ways, some draw the design first and send it prior to the appointment. Others prefer to design on the day while you are here. Please respect each of our artists methods of working, they are tried and tested.
You must be willing to join our waiting list if necessary and pay the prices that reflect the quality of our work. Our prices are non-negotiable.
Despite the nice sentiment, we do not add cremated ashes into our inks as we consider it to be unsanitary.
FEED YOURSELF WELL
It always pays to have a substantial and preferably healthy meal the night before your appointment and also a good breakfast in the morning. Also its important to meal prep for the day.
It can help you on the day if you have a supply of water, sugary drinks or chocolate to your appointment (we can supply you with as much tea and coffee as you like!)
WEAR SUITABLE CLOTHING
Please wear appropriate loose fitting clothing with enough layers which can be removed easily if and when necessary. Ink can splash onto items of clothing so please no expensive items, we will not be liable for any damage.
NO ALCOHOL & OTHER SUBSTANCES
Please refrain from having any alcoholic drinks or other substances for at least 24 hours before your appointment. This is very important as it makes it very difficult for our artist to do there jobs properly due to the thinning of the blood caused by alcohol and other substances, which can lead to excessive bleeding and inflammation.
If you are still under the influence on the day we will not tattoo you.
TELL US IF YOU ARE PREGNANT
We cannot tattoo you if you are pregnant. This is for the health of yourself and your unborn child, please be open and honest about this even if you have found out after your consultation.
GET ENOUGH SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE
Try to get a good nights sleep the night before to ensure you are well rested and mentally prepared for your tattoo session.
Please do not apply anything to the skin before your appointment, such as fake tan or other creams. Only apply products to the skin before your appointment if instructed to by your artist. If you are considering applying anything please check with your artist first.
Depending on the nature of the tattoo, individual skin type and the quality of care taken by the individual, it can take between 5 – 10 days. Underneath the tattoo can take 3 months to fully heal. You will notice a glossy shine for the first few months. Once healed it has a matte finish.
Due to high demand we are by appointment only.
Tattoo pricing varies with size, detail, style, subject matter, etc.
Our artists charge between £70-100 per hour.
We offer half day and full day rates to help reduce the cost of large tattoos.
Our minimum charge is £50.
You can set up a free 30 minute consultation if you would like to discuss your ideas and receive a a more specific idea of how much your custom tattoo will cost.
Most importantly A GOVERNMENT ISSUED VALID ID (passport or driving license).
The second most important thing is a method of payment for your artist. We can do cash, credit or debit (card charges apply and vary).
No personal cheques and no American Express.
Although our artists are very conversational, we also recommend you bring things to keep you busy, happy and distracted. Laptops, iPods, iPads, books, etc are great ideas.
Lastly, if you’re sitting for a long session, snacks are good to have handy.
Our best advice for long-term quality tattoos is to regularly exfoliate and moisturise your tattoo, using chemical-free products.
When the skin is very dry, the layer of dead skin cells get thicker and visually obscures your tattoo.
We sell 100% natural products at the studio, please ask for details.
The sun is the number one enemy of a new tattoo. As difficult as this may be in the warmer months, please keep your new tattoo completely out of the sun for 6 weeks.
After this we recommend using the highest factor sunscreen if your tattoo is in any direct sunlight.
Do some research and only use natural chemical free sun-block to keep your skin healthy.
You’ve paid good money for it, so why not keep it sharp?!
We do not currently have a piercer in the shop.
Leave the protective film applied by your artist covering your tattoo for 3 - 4 hours.
Thoroughly wash your hands before you remove the film.
Rinse your new tattoo with warm water using only your clean hand.
Allow your tattoo to completely air dry.
Apply thin layer of aftercare product recommended by your artist.
Clean the tattoo and apply aftercare product 3-4 times each day with thoroughly clean hands.
Avoid wearing tight clothing on the area of your tattoo.
You should stop using aftercare product 5 - 7 days after the tattoo or once the top layer of the skin has peeled away.
From now on you can apply a daily moisturiser as recommended by your artist for long lasting results.
Once you leave the studio you are responsible for the health and care of your tattoo. It is a process you need to take seriously if you are to avoid infection. Remember you have an open wound and you need to protect it.
Wearing clean clothes, sleeping in clean bed sheets, using clean towels and avoiding dusty environments all will help to protect you and your new tattoo.
Do not go swimming, sun-beds or enter any spa environments with your new tattoo for at least 7 days.
